Steve Gronert Ellerhoff has held jobs as a popcorn concessionist, a janitor, a projectionist, a file clerk, an assistant manager, a research assistant, a teaching assistant, a legal assistant, an editorial assistant (for The Flexible Persona), an adjunct professor, a writing and ESL tutor, and once upon a time, for five years and a day, he worked his way up to Director of Wind-Up Toys at Finnegan's Toys & Gifts in downtown Portland, Oregon. Tin robots and chattering teeth gave way to mythology, the short story form, and scholarly pursuit in Ireland, where he studied literary criticism and depth psychology (often by the fire at the Harbour Bar in Bray). He is now based in Eugene, Oregon, and works as a book clerk at Tsunami Books and the copy editor/book designer at Tsunami Press. He also co-hosts The Entire City, a podcast exploring short stories.
